Todo List
Here is a list of some of the tasks we need to do to improve Kefir. They range from some basic polishing needed so we can release a nice R1 release. Others are some ideas I have for the future to make Kefir even better than Gouda Cheese.
The present
- An icon - every great revolution has some symbol to go with it, and therefore we need one. Unfortunately the hammer and sickle has been taken. I'm thinking perhaps we might want a picture of a Kefir Mushroom drawn to the Tango Icon Specification, if anyone has some graphical ability.
- Technichal Writing - I'm a horrible technical writer, and my stay in Germany is just making my English worse. Anyone good at writing documentation? This can also include helping out with the website
- Tutorials - A tutorial or two on using Kefir would also be nice, and would allow more people to use it. It would be especially nice if these articles can show how the developer can use either the MVC or the Proxy design pattern in writing any application.
- Bug Fixing - Something I should just get started on instead of making such a pretty website
The Future
- Glade Integration - Tepache has a glade patch that allows glade to automatically call tepache and do it's magic. Doing something similar for Kefir would be on a scale between 1 and 10, very awesome.
- Gazpacho Compatibility - Gazpacho does some weird stuff to the Glade file specification to take advatadge of some GTK 2.4 Features. Including these in Kefir is probably the next project.
- Free Language Parsing - Kefir's syntax is bulky. I want to write a Python Parser that will do the same thing, but with the natural python language. This would make Kefir depend on a specific version of python.
- Breaking up windows into several objects - Currently every window is a single object, which can get messy when many complicated things are all happening in the same window. Figuring out the theoretical voodoo here is still going to take some work, but if anyone has any ideas, I would love to discuss them. This is a fairly high priority task too.
Kelp Taunted
Yes, we need help. For starters, we need someone to write a new "Help Wanted" sign for us. Otherwise, if you're still interested in helping but have no interest in sign writing, just volunteer to help out with any of the above tasks.
